ATEX certification is a mandatory certification for explosion-proof products in the European Union, and is a CE certification explosion-proof directive applicable to EU countries and regions. IECEx is the International Electrotechnical Commission's certification system for explosion-proof electrical products, which is voluntary and applicable to member countries of the IECEx system. At present, most of the major economic powers in the world are members of the IECEx system, and China is also a member. Regarding IECEx and ATEX certification, Zhongnuo Testing has summarized the following differences:,

(1) Scope of application: ATEX certification applies to the European Union region, IECEx applies to IECEx member states,

(2) Is it mandatory? ATEX certification is mandatory, IECEx is voluntary,

(3) Execution standards, ATEX certification standards are the IEC60079 series, and IECEx certification standards are the IEC60079 series

(4) Explosion proof marking, ATEX explosion-proof marking is more complex than IECEx certification marking, as can be seen from the example we provided,

(5) Conversion issue: Currently, ATEX certification certificates cannot be converted to certificates from countries outside the European Union. IECEx member countries directly or indirectly recognize IECEx certificates, such as Australia and New Zealand. Other IECEx member countries (such as China) can convert IECEx certificates to local explosion-proof certificates.
